MY EXPERIENCE

I graduated from University of Houston Graduate School of Social Work in 1992. Also at this time, I discovered Pia Mellody's work on codependence and developmental immaturity. My extensive study with Pia Mellody honed the skills necessary to work on trauma, codependence, love addiction and developmental immaturity. This groundbreaking work assists people who are either in recovery or who just want to enhance the quality of their lives.

Since 1999, I have frequently spoken publicly on Pia Mellody's model of codependence and love addiction for the Meadows Institute. I have conducted trauma workshops, empowerment groups, love addiction recovery groups and relationship workshops—all of which focus on healing various degrees of childhood trauma underlying adult dysfunction.

Having trained extensively with Terry Real beginning in 2001, I use his invaluable model in my work with couples.

As a Trauma Therapist (EMDR) and a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT), I focus on repairing broken relationships related to the impact of addiction and trauma.

I have studied with, and am certified by, the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction (IITAP) focusing on the treatment sex addicts and their partners. My therapeutic approach is eclectic and weaves together psychodynamic, cognitive, and family systems models.
